New Cover for The Shadowy Horses by Susanna Kearsley

Looks like The Shadowy Horses will be the next Susanna Kearsley book to be reissued by Sourcebooks this fall!

Here's the book description from Kearsley's website:

"With its dark legends and passionate history, the windswept shores of Scotland are an archaeologist’s dream. Verity Grey is thrilled by the challenge of uncovering an ancient Roman campsite in a small village. But as soon as she arrives, she can sense danger in the air.

Her eccentric boss, Peter Quinnell, has spent his whole life searching for the resting place of the lost Ninth Roman Legion and is convinced he’s finally found it – not because of any scientific evidence, but because a local boy has ‘seen’ a Roman soldier walking in the fields, a ghostly sentinel who guards the bodies of his long-dead comrades.

Surprisingly, Verity believes in Peter, and the boy, and even in the Sentinel, who seems determined to become her own protector...but from what?
"

I hope you add this one to your TBR pile if you haven't read it yet....I have an older copy, but Sourcebooks' editions are so pretty I just might have to start replacing them!

I loved this one. I can't decide if I like it or Mariana more. Very glad to see Sourcebooks is publishing Kearsley's back list so that American readers can enjoy her novels, too.

I do like this cover -- I have the older (2009) of the two recent Alison & Busby editions (Canada/UK editions) and I don't think the cover fits the novel at all.

I don't blame you for updating your editions -- I just updated my copy of The Splendour Falls with the brand new Alison & Busby edition...my other copy is now on its way to you :-)...as well as updated my copy of Season of Storms, which was reissued here last year. The only one I need to update now is Named of the Dragon, and I imagine it won't be too long before it is reissued since all of Kearsley's other novels have been reissued here over the past couple of years.

Melissa - Yes, I know you love this one! I think it's important for fans of Kearsley to read The Shadowy Horses as she has mentioned many times that a grown up version of Robbie plays a major role in her newest book, so you'll need to understand the connection. She's still writing it and not ready to reveal too much, but I'm watching her website carefully for updates.
